Sound quality description
In this review, I use the standard eartips size L and drive it with the FiiO M15.
The KZ ZS10 ProX has a neutral-conscious V-shaped sound signature.
Please see here for detailed reviews on sound quality.
Lows / Bass
The low frequencies of the KZ ZS10 ProX are fairly linear and reach relatively deep.
The bass drum sound is massive and powerful enough to sound thick and muscular, and the sense of presence is not bad, as the rumble is also reasonably perceptible. The impact is felt well enough.
The electric bass is black and tight, with good tightness and relatively good depth, but slightly shallow.
The bass can satisfy bass lovers quite well in terms of both depth and volume, and it is balanced and balanced with the midrange among KZ products.
The midrange of the KZ ZS10 ProX is neutral enough, but the midrange is concave, emphasizing the three-dimensionality. The overall structure is slightly forward leaning.
The midrange is lush enough, with plenty of structure, but the upper part sounds a bit dry. There is a slight emphasis on dynamism, and the sense of detail is sufficient and not lacking in precision.
The snare is solid enough, with a firm and hard profile, and the attack is heard quite clearly. The midrange has a monitor-like feel, but the crunchiness of the sound may be a bit strong. The sound contour is a little milder and mellower than the solid sound image center, and is a little gentler on the ear.
Despite being a hybrid model, the midrange sounds clear with fairly low distortion and good resolution. Because of the emphasis on staging, the midrange is panoramic and feels roomy on both sides.
Highs / Treble
The high frequencies of the KZ ZS10 ProX are tuned for speaker-like forward localization. Extension is lacking.
Sibilance can be heard slightly stronger, but the sting is well controlled. The sense of definition is adequate, and luminance may be just slightly lacking, but generally adequate. The highs are sufficiently monitor-like and detailed for analytical listening.
The highs are fairly smooth and finished, and are gentle to the ear.
Sound quality general comment
The KZ ZS10 ProX earphones have a fairly balanced, slightly V-shaped sound. If you find the sound of the CCA CXS to be too hard on the ear or a bit harsh, the ZS10 ProX will be more comfortable and pleasant to listen to. It also has a wider midrange and a little more room. On the other hand, the CXS is generally more reliable as a monitor, as ZS10 ProX has less constructive sound than the CCA CXS.
KZ ZS10 ProX vs CCA CXS
Sound quality features
- Excellent texture
- Good original sound fidelity
- Heavy, deep bass
- Glossy, colorful and sweet sound
- Resolution beyond its price
- Smooth, well-damped highs
- Good focus on midrange
- Good sound balance
- Speaker-like forward localization
- Low distortion and clarity
- Well-organized damping
- Lacks high-frequency extension
- Slightly darker midrange
- Slightly lower localization and sense of build than CXS
The KZ ZS10 ProX is a multi-hybrid driver model with relatively good damping characteristics, high transparency, good resolution, and above all, a monitor-like sound with high fidelity to the original sound, which is a clear indication that KZ has shown great talent in this area. The KZ ZS10 sounds more like a legitimate monitor among KZ products and can provide a smoother, slightly rounder, more comfortable listening experience than the CCA CXS, which is more like a orthodox studio monitor.
