In this review, I use the standard eartips size L and drive it with the FiiO M15.

The BLON X HBB Z300 has a neutral sound signature.

Lows / Bass

The low end of the BLON X HBB Z300 is quite deep and linear.

The bass drum is quite weighty and deep enough, with a good amount of rumble and enough impact overall.

The electric bass is also black enough, and not bad in depth and breadth.

While it seems to be sufficient in quantity and almost enough in quality to satisfy bass lovers, the sound balance is a bit too strong for the midrange, which may muddy the midrange a bit.

 

Mids

The midrange of the BLON X HBB Z300 is tuned close to neutral and is very accurate in texture.

The center of the midrange is well positioned and bright, but the upper midrange is subdued, so the overall midrange generally sounds a little less colored and a little more gray. This creates a bit of quietness in the midrange, and it sounds elegant and gentle to the ear. The crunch and edge are less pronounced and the center of the music lacks a sense of structure, but the density is reduced and a sense of spatial spaciousness is achieved, making it comfortable to listen to.

On the downside, the guitar edges are muddy and sound a little darker, creating a chic, mature atmosphere, but moving away from the beautiful colors of the rainbow. Female vocals tend to lose some of their vitality and sound more mature than young.

The midrange has been carefully tuned, but it sounds slightly subdued, which may be a point of difference for different tastes.

Resolution and transparency are above the price level.

Highs / Treble

The high frequency range of the BLON X HBB Z300 is also tuned with a high degree of sound image consistency, with an emphasis on definition and the ability to bring out details in fine detail.

In contrast to the somewhat docile upper midrange to mid-highs, the upper highs are relatively full and bring out detail in a slightly more subdued atmosphere. Cymbal crashes are detailed and reasonably expansive, and violins and woodwinds have a slight sense of extension at the top, making one aware of their height.

The overall direction of decay is tuned for speaker-like forward localization, and while the high frequency extension is a bit lacking, it's not bad, and the height is reasonably perceptible.

The BLON × HBB Z300 has a resolution and transparency beyond its price level and a very well balanced sound.

Its rival may be the KZ DQ6s, also under HBB supervision. Both sound mostly similar, but the Z300 wins in every respect, including range, sound image consistency, resolution, and transparency. Perhaps the Z300 is a clearer embodiment of HBB's original acoustic philosophy than the KZ DQ6s.

The BLON × HBB Z300 has a low-frequency oriented sound that is typical of HBB collaboration models, and the fact that it is a little less flashy in the midrange is also an indication of HBB's preference. Overall progress has been made from the KZ × HBB DQ6s, which are thought to be based on similar tuning, and if you are buying as an HBB collaboration in this price range now, the Z300 is the most recommended option.

About the Design

The shell design of the HIDIZS MS5 features a one-piece aluminum alloy shell design that reduces weight and provides a balance between strength and weight. Ergonomically, Hidizs redesigned the MS5 earphone front shell and sound tube. The multi-surface design allows the shape of the shell to closely follow the contours of the ear, making it comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. The faceplate of the MS5 is also made of skin-friendly resin material, and the hollowing craft reduces the weight of the product. Anodizing technology is also used to improve the surface hardness of the shell, making the faceplate smoother, reducing fingerprint residue and adding elegance.

About the earphone cable

HIDIZS MS5 comes with a total of 504 6N monocrystalline copper silver-plated wires and 6N monocrystalline copper 8-core litz upgrade cables. The properties of the monocrystalline copper make the sound clear and delicate, while the monocrystalline silver-plated copper wire is vibrant. Lows / Bass

The low frequency range of the Hidizs MS5 is almost unimpressive at any adjustment.

The bass drum is quite weighty, with plenty of impact and a reasonable amount of rumble.

The electric bass also has a reasonable amount of blackness, and the depth and breadth are not bad.

The midrange is a bit weak, so the bass tends to have a stronger relative presence. Depending on your taste, you may be bothered by a slightly muddy feeling in the midrange. In terms of quantity, it will satisfy low-frequency lovers, and in terms of quality, it will not cause much dissatisfaction.

Mids

he midrange of the Hidizs MS5 is a bit recessed in the overall picture, and while not lacking in brightness, it is emphasized in depth, and sounds a bit static and a bit cramped.

The Hidizs MS5's weaknesses are generally in the midrange, where texture is not precise, it falls short in transparency, and resolution, while not extremely low, can be a bit lacking given the price. It tends to lack in freshness and sounds dry.

The midrange tends to lack a sense of edge and crunch, and the midrange is a bit subdued and gentle to the ear, and the contours sound rounded. Vocals tend to be a bit subdued and may give an elegant impression. However, sibilance is strong, so while consonants tend to be sharp and clearly audible, there is a strong sense of being a bit cranky.

The snare also tends to sound strangely dry and clattering, which to my ears is a bit unnatural and doesn't fit in with the atmosphere.

The tendency is almost the same with all nozzles, but you can tame the highs a bit by using a low frequency nozzle.

Highs / Treble

The high frequency range of the MS5 is well-defined on its own, the area adjustable with the nozzle is also primarily in the high frequency range, and overall linearity is good. Extensibility is lacking.

The highs tend to be somewhat noticeable, mainly due to the effect of the lack of energy in the upper midrange. Violins sound a bit hysterical, and woodwinds tend to sound a bit too crunchy, crisp, hard, dry, and metallic.

However, if your high-frequency hearing loss is a bit advanced due to the effects of aging, this level of balance may sound just fine in terms of detail. For the majority of people under 40 in age, the high frequencies seem a little too strong and tightly balanced, but as already mentioned, they can be calmed down considerably by using a low-frequency nozzle.

The adjustment of the highs with the Hidizs MS5 nozzle system is quite reasonable, and if you change from the low frequency nozzle toward the high frequency nozzle as you age, the highs will be balanced to feel roughly the optimal amount.

Sound quality general comment

Hidizs MS5 earphones have a reasonably tuned nozzle system that is almost exclusively dedicated to high-frequency adjustment, and despite being a multi-hybrid, the overall sound image consistency is also high, suggesting that the brand has been quite careful in balancing the sound.

However, the overall transparency and resolution are quite lacking considering the price, and the midrange is not well done, so the sound is not suitable for audiophiles, who generally tend to emphasize the fidelity of the original sound in the midrange, at least. The attractive point is that the sound image in the high frequency range is quite clean and well-defined, so it may not be bad if you prefer that kind of sound.

They are very attractive earphones for high-frequency lovers who want to focus on well-connected high frequencies, and  very attractive option for older, high-amateur listeners in particular. In general, however, the high frequencies tend to be a bit too prominent and metallic sounding, and they tend to sound dry, and in terms of resolution and transparency, they are lacking considering the price.

Refined Treble Response

With precise adjustments, the treble response of the SA6 MKII is enhanced and improved over the older generation. The upper treble has been raised for a more natural and airy soundstage and improved details. It’s increased professionally so as not to introduce any kind of peakiness or sharpness.

In this review, I use the standard eartips size L and drive it with the FiiO M15.

The SIMGOT EW100P has a neutral-conscious, midrange-full sound signature.

According to the brand's description, the EW100P is tuned based on Harman Target 2016 (H2016), and the aluminum alloy used for the housing is also H2016, which may somehow give meaning to this number. Or it could be SIMGOT's sense of fun.

Lows / Bass

The low frequencies of the SIMGOT EW100P are quite deep and linear.

Bass drums have reasonable weight, plenty of impact, and a reasonable amount of rumble.

The electric bass also has a reasonable amount of blackness, and the depth and breadth are not bad.

Qualitatively, it can be said that the bass is not bad, but in terms of quantity, it is a bit weak in relation to the midrange. It will be a bit difficult to satisfy bass lovers.

Mids

The midrange of the SIMGOT EW100P is almost completely neutral, and the texture is quite accurate.

The midrange is of an excellent standard for studio monitors, with a fairly good sense of crunch and a high level of contouring power, so there is no shortage of midrange construction. The midrange is moderately bright, and the overall ambience is tuned to the localization of the front-facing speakers.

Because the midrange is balanced with a slightly stronger presence, the vocal image is generally perceived to be a bit larger. Both transparency and resolution are at a high level, so the three-dimensionality of a song can be projected and portrayed fairly accurately.

The drawback is mainly in the highs rather than the mids, where the energy in the highs is a bit weak and detail reproduction and subtlety tend to be slightly lacking. When used as studio monitors, the CCA CXS has a slightly better sound balance in this respect, but the resolution of the EW100P is higher, so it will feel like a higher quality sound.

Highs / Treble

As already mentioned, the high frequency range of the SIMGOT EW100P is tuned with speaker-like forward localization in mind. Therefore, it can be said to have a studio monitor-like sound that emphasizes the reproduction of speaker sound rather than the original localization of music.

Although the extension is a bit lacking, the overall sound image consistency is high, and overtones of strings and woodwinds can be expressed naturally. Cymbal crashes are a bit tame, with a slight emphasis on glare, but the sound lacks subtlety, and the luminance is low and easy on the ears.

The SIMGOT EW100P is the brand's entry-level earphone, but its sound is uncompromising. Just two years ago, the EW100P would have been hailed as one of the finest earphones on the market. These days, the quality of Chinese earphones has become too high, and the low end of the market is oversaturated. At this point, there are not few earphones that can compete with the EW100P.

Since the EW100P has a studio monitor-type sound, a strong competitor in the same price range is the CCA CXS mentioned above.

The EW100P has better overall audio specs and is probably more comfortable to listen to, as the midrange sounds more generous than the CXS. The sound balance is slightly more studio monitor oriented with the CXS for most people. If detail is a concern, the CXS will win out slightly.

However, for most people, the EW100P is expected to be the better overall performer. Of course, the difference between the two is also in the low frequencies, and perhaps the user base is a bit different. Younger people tend to prefer more bass (because their high-frequency hearing is not diminished), so the CCA CXS may be better suited to younger people.

The Tripowin Piccolo uses the latest advancements in dynamic drivers that features the third generation liquid crystal polymer (LCP) diaphragm. Despite its name, LCP is a solid material formed by an intensive processing of polymer film sheets for crystallization and crosslinking of the polymers.

Our LCP diaphragms undergo the same process and utilize similar material used in Kevlar. In the past, LCP diaphragms were favored due to their high transient speeds, but suffered from lower resolving power and harsh treble sibilance. The latest generation of LCP diaphragm has been designed to be thinner, measuring at a mere couple dozen micrometers thick, while maintaining the same density. This allows even greater diaphragm responsiveness at lower total harmonic distortion.

Excellent treble extension is thus effectively achieved while removing the harshness in the treble. The overall acoustic resolution and tonal balance is further enhanced compared to previous generation drivers.

Balanced Sound

The Piccolo has been tuned according to a modified tonal standard. The bass is well extended into the subbass region, and remains strong at 8dB until 300Hz. This gives plenty of bass power and presence, without altering the natural timbre of the mids. The mids are neutral to present a monitor-like realistic body to instruments and vocals, without coloring the sound. To bring about complete balance to the tonal range, the treble has been compensated to perfectly match the human ear’s pinna, and delivers a pleasant, yet well-extended treble response. The natural tonal balance of the Piccolo makes it perfect for any genre of music.

Detachable High-purity Cable

The Piccolo comes standard with a detachable 2-pin 0.78mm cable. The cable is constructed of high-purity OCC copper, and is ready to deliver a transparent sound free of any distortions. The detachable cable also extends the longevity of the earphones, as you can simply swap out the cable to any similar 2-pin cable in the future.

Lows / Bass

The low end of the Tripowin Piccolo is fairly linear, but lacks a bit of depth.

The drum kicks are weighty and impactful, but a bit shallow and the rumble is weak and not very realistic.

The electric bass is reasonably tight, but lacks depth and sounds a bit bright.

Balanced well with the midrange, but perhaps a bit short of satisfying bass lovers.

Mids

The midrange of the Tripowin Piccolo is almost perfectly neutral and balanced. Both transparency and resolution are excellent, and the midrange by itself is very well done.

However, the brightness in the center of the midrange tends to be a bit over-emphasized, and it is easy to feel a slight glare, leaning a bit toward the so-called "Tinny" sound.

This tends to make the guitar edges sound blurred, the vocals sound like a howl, and the piano sound a bit out of tune and honky-tonk. Depending on the source and volume, there may be many situations where the midrange sounds a little too loud due to poor tightness.

The cause of this problem is actually in the highs rather than the mids. As Tripowin himself notes, Piccolo has a structure that concentrates particularly on reducing the sting in the highs, but this leads to a lack of luminance, which not only makes detail and definition lacking, but also reduces the tightness of the midrange. This is a great pity, because as a stand-alone product, it is quite good.

Highs / Treble

The high frequency range of the Tripowin Piccolo is, as stated by the brand itself, generally low energy. As a result, detail reproduction is a bit lacking, and contour rendering is also a bit lacking.

Subtlety is a bit lacking, and cymbal crashes sound more glaring than exhilarating and extensive. Sound image consistency is quite good, so overtones of violins and woodwinds are naturally extended, but these are not earphones that allow you to hear detailed dynamics.

Relatively safe for those sensitive to high frequencies.

The Tripowin Piccolo is a fairly low-priced single dynamic driver earphone, but the audio specs are generally above the high end. The overall tuning is very smooth, and the beauty of the product is its excellent sound image consistency.

The TinHiFi C2 is the clear competitor due to the design of its metal enclosure.

The Piccolo is a step up in audio specifications from the TinHiFi C2, but the overall tuning, especially in the midrange, is much less than the C2 which is close to the auditory ideal for many people. Comparing the C2 and Piccolo, the C2 is one to two steps better overall.

Still, frankly, the Piccolo is a very complete earphone and is rarely superior, even at a high price. The left-right difference is minimal, distortion is very low, and measurements indicate that Tripowin has done a lot of work on the Piccolo, so there is no doubt that it is a good earphone. They should sound milder and mellower than the C2s, so it is possible that those who are sensitive to high frequencies will find them even safer and better than the C2s.

The audio specs are on par with the high-end, and considering the price, the model is very well built, including the build, and can be highly recommended.

The problem, however, is the presence of an overly powerful competitor, the TinHiFi C2. In most aspects of sound, the TinHiFi C2 is a better alternative to the Piccolo, and the Piccolo has a very poor chance of winning the competition.

The Tripowin Piccolo uses the latest advancements in dynamic drivers that features the third generation liquid crystal polymer (LCP) diaphragm. Despite its name, LCP is a solid material formed by an intensive processing of polymer film sheets for crystallization and crosslinking of the polymers.

Our LCP diaphragms undergo the same process and utilize similar material used in Kevlar. In the past, LCP diaphragms were favored due to their high transient speeds, but suffered from lower resolving power and harsh treble sibilance. The latest generation of LCP diaphragm has been designed to be thinner, measuring at a mere couple dozen micrometers thick, while maintaining the same density. This allows even greater diaphragm responsiveness at lower total harmonic distortion.

Excellent treble extension is thus effectively achieved while removing the harshness in the treble. The overall acoustic resolution and tonal balance is further enhanced compared to previous generation drivers.

Balanced Sound

The Piccolo has been tuned according to a modified tonal standard. The bass is well extended into the subbass region, and remains strong at 8dB until 300Hz. This gives plenty of bass power and presence, without altering the natural timbre of the mids. The mids are neutral to present a monitor-like realistic body to instruments and vocals, without coloring the sound. To bring about complete balance to the tonal range, the treble has been compensated to perfectly match the human ear’s pinna, and delivers a pleasant, yet well-extended treble response. The natural tonal balance of the Piccolo makes it perfect for any genre of music.

Detachable High-purity Cable

In this review, I use the standard eartips size L and drive it with the FiiO M15.

JCally MN has a neutral-conscious U-shaped sound signature.

Lows / Bass

The JCally MN's low frequencies are quite deep and linear.

The bass drum has plenty of weight and impact, and the rumble is quite perceptible, so the overall sound is well defined, well defined and prospective, with a good sense of presence.

The electric bass also has plenty of blackness, with good depth and breadth.

All in all, this low frequency range should be enough to satisfy bass lovers both quantitatively and qualitatively.

Mids

The midrange of the JCally MN is fairly close to neutral, but the overall structure is tilted forward, emphasizing the upper midrange.

Since the adjustment emphasizes a sense of edge, the sound is characterized by a clear contour description and a sense of tension with a good sense of crunch. The sound has a strong sense of luster and gloss, but this may cause the center of the midrange to become slightly darker, which may be a concern.

Female vocals sound a bit more upbeat, emphasizing their coloration, and some songs have a slight shoutiness to them. It's a slightly ringing, coquettish way to be heard, and is likely to be quite appealing when listening to idol songs or female voice actors. Although I would be concerned about the exaggeration and the atmosphere not being natural, I think it sounds glossy and colorful. However, the voice tends to be a little husky.

I also enjoy the piano and other things that sound glossy and sparkly. Personally, I like this trend, but from an original sound fidelity perspective, the sound is a little unnatural and sometimes the vocals are too loud.

Highs / Treble

High frequencies are tuned for edge rather than definition. Extension is slightly lacking, but not bad.

The low highs are shiny, well delineated, and sparkling, but the higher parts are conversely less luminous and less delicate.

As a result, while vocals sound impressive in pop music, cymbals and guitar edges sound gruff in rock. Cymbals are easily heard as clattering, with a rough, crispy, crunchy atmosphere, like the sound of eating shaved ice.

It is crisp and pleasant in some parts, but it lacks a sense of freshness, and while it is pleasant in some parts at first, after listening to it for a long time, it begins to sound like a disturbing expression that persistently lingers in the ear. The feeling that it doesn't come through cleanly makes the song's sense of speed feel bad, and there are places where it doesn't come through pleasantly high, so you don't feel the exhilaration that unleashes the catharsis.

The JCally MN is an earphone that was probably created by the brand itself as the Alternative KZ EDX.

However, the unit I got actually has a sound balance that could be described as the Alternative EDX Pro, and the major difference from the EDX Pro is that the upper midrange is more emphasized.

Now, compared to the original EDX, the overall adjustment in the high-frequency direction deviates from neutral, and it is the EDX that has the better sound balance, at least from the standpoint of original sound fidelity.

EDX also offers a more subtle, higher-resolution sound, so it is the better choice in terms of which has the better hi-fi sound. Therefore, in general, if we were to recommend either EDX or JCally MN, EDX is by far the better choice. However, if you like to hear female vocals and piano with a sparkling atmosphere, I would recommend JCally MN.

Conversely, if you dislike the tendency of female vocals to sound a bit shouty and shouty, you may want to buy the EDX Pro, which is similarly balanced but can be expected to give vocals a more appropriate atmosphere.

If it comes down to one of these, the KZ EDX is probably the best of the three for most people.

For reference, here is a comparison of the appearance of JCally MN and KZ EDX. Even the position of the vent holes is almost the same, and they are made to look very similar. However, the cable connector design is different.

General comment

The JCally MN IEMs have a colorful sound that emphasizes the mid and high frequencies and sounds sparkling. It has a similar sound to the KZ EDX series, but is more focused on female vocals, which enjoys a lustrous tone. In general, however, the KZ EDX can be recommended over the JCally MN because EDX can expect to deliver a more accurate, balanced, and high-resolution sound.
