Sound quality description

In this review, I use the standard eartips size L and drive it with the FiiO M15.

EPZ Q1 has a sound signature of a full midrange.

Please see here for detailed reviews on sound quality.

EPZ Q1

Lows / Bass

The EPZ Q1's low frequency range is relatively deep and linear.

The bass drum is not badly weighted and has plenty of impact, but lacks a bit of tightness. Rumble is also lacking, sounding loose and saggy.

The electric bass has sufficient blackness, but lacks depth and sounds a bit warm.

The bass may satisfy bass lovers in terms of volume, but it lacks depth.

EPZ Q1

Mids

The EPZ Q1's midrange is relatively frontal and is heard in a bright position. The overall structure is backward leaning and emphasizes staging.

The lower midrange is tuned relatively close to neutral, so the texture is reasonably accurate, but the energy is weak in the high-frequency direction, causing problems with construction, localization, and detail.

Because of this, the midrange lacks overall tightness, is expansive, and sounds contoured and poorly separated. While the midrange resolution itself is not bad, it is cloudy and sounds indistinct and difficult to hear.

EPZ Q1

Highs / Treble

In general, the high frequencies are a shortcoming of the EPZ Q1. They are just not present and lack energy, making it impossible to extract detail from the music.

Luminance is also significantly lacking, making details difficult to discern, and localization is indistinct. Extension is also substandard and not very extended, and the highs are just not good.

The highs are very safe for those who are sensitive to high frequencies, but are too lacking for most people.

EPZ Q1

Sound quality general comment
  • Original Sound Fidelity: A-
  • Recommendation: D-
  • Personal preference: D-

EPZ Q1 is not recommended. You will probably be happier buying a K1 of the same brand.

blog.ear-phone-review.com

EPZ Q1

Sound quality features

Pros
  • Low energy, high frequencies safe for sensitive people
  • Good transparency
  • Resolution above price
  • Sound with a sense of richness

Cons
  • Lacks high-frequency extension
  • Lack of detail
  • Lack of luminance
  • Lack of sense of build-up
  • Poor sense of separation
  • Lacks in low-frequency depth
  • Cloudy midrange

General comment

The EPZ Q1 earphones have a full midrange sound with very controlled high frequencies. It is well designed and well packaged, and may be recommended as a very comfortable listening earphone for those who are sensitive to high frequencies. In general, however, it lacks too much energy in the high frequency range, and detail reproduction is too poor to recommend.

Sound quality description

In this review, I use the standard eartips size L and drive it with the FiiO M15.

Tri Star River has a neutral sound signature.

Please see here for detailed reviews on sound quality.

Tri Star River

Lows / Bass

The structure of the low frequency range itself is basically unchanged by the switch. Therefore, the low-frequency atmosphere itself does not change significantly, but its presence is probably more significant when switch 1 is set to ON and switch 2 is set to OFF. However, there is almost no difference with both switches off.

The bass drum has a tight feel, not bad weight, and plenty of impact. The rumble may be slightly lacking, but you won't feel shortchanged.

The electric bass is also sufficiently black and expansive.

Low frequencies are generally excellent in both quantity and quality, and the balance with the midrange is not bad.

Tri Star River

Mids

At the OFF/OFF setting, Star River's midrange is fairly close to neutral and the texture is accurate.

The midrange has a fairly solid sense of construction, with overall solidity and separation, and the three-dimensionality of the song is accurate, with no lack of detail. The sound is close to typical studio tuning. The midrange is slightly forward leaning with any switch, but switch 2 increases the forward lean.

There is something like crossover distortion near the midrange with the 2DD hybrid, but it is quite low distortion and there is no lack of transparency.

This is a fairly excellent adjustment.

Tri Star River

Highs / Treble

Tri Star River's high frequencies are well tuned for definition, although extension and linearity are a bit lacking.

Turning switch 2 off generally produces a more detailed and delicate sound. Localization also generally sounds better with switch 2 off.

The entire high frequency range is speaker-like with an awareness of forward localization and a smooth decay at the top.

Violins and woodwinds extend well above, and cymbal crashes don't feel too short on luminance, and are sufficiently delicate and fine-grained, but lack breadth.

Tri Star River

Sound quality general comment
  • Original Sound Fidelity: S-
  • Recommendation: A+
  • Personal preference: A+

Tri Star River is a fairly good choice considering its price. It can deliver near-neutral sound with high overall original fidelity, and while the audio specs are not outstanding, they are well above the price level and can compete with most higher-end models at higher price points.

Tri Star River

Sound quality features

Pros
  • Excellent original sound fidelity
  • Heavy, deep bass
  • Good detail
  • Natural texture
  • Well-expanded highs
  • Good transparency
  • Resolution above price
  • Good build quality
  • Speaker-like sound

Cons
  • Lacks high frequency extension
  • Switch 1 is of little use

General comment

Tri Star River is an in-ear monitor that offers a fairly good neutral sound in its price range. With massive bass and accurate texture, they are a superior choice over many high-end products because of their excellent level of resolution and clarity at a price point that is well above the price.

7Hz Legato is a brand new dual-driver in-ear monitor featuring two high-performance dynamic drivers on each side. The pair houses a 12mm and another 6mm dynamic driver where the 12mm one acts as a woofer and produces a powerful lower-end response, the 6mm driver here is kept responsible for exceptional midrange clarity and treble response. With professional tuning and precise adjustments, 7Hz Legato packs a powerful and lively sound that complements different genres of music well!!

7Hz Legato

Premium Dual-Driver Arrangement For Exceptional Sound

7Hz has got years of experience in designing dynamic driver IEMs. They have used that expertise in designing the all-new Legato with a dual dynamic driver arrangement. The pair houses a large 12mm dynamic driver with a multi-layer composite diaphragm as a woofer paired with a 6mm dynamic driver with a composite diaphragm for powerful sound delivery. The 12mm unit used high-power N52 Neodymium magnets that produce a powerful magnetic flux allowing for swift movement of the diaphragm coil enabling clean and precise sound.

7Hz Legato

High-Power Woofer & Crisp Mid-High Drivers

The 12mm dynamic driver unit produces a powerful lower-end response. It delivers impactful slams in the mid-bass region and extends deep into the sub-bass region producing a powerful rumble that adds heft to the output signal. The 6mm dynamic driver unit produces clean and accurate midrange and high-frequency responses. The output is coherent with each frequency producing a crisp response that is in line with the other frequencies.

Sound quality description

In this review, I use the standard eartips size L and drive it with the FiiO M15.

The 7Hz Legato has a V-shaped sound signature, leaning toward the lower frequencies with neutrality in mind.

Please see here for detailed reviews on sound quality.

7Hz Legato

Lows / Bass

The low frequency range of the 7Hz Legato is quite linear and deep.

The bass drum is tight, with excellent weight and plenty of impact. Rumble may be slightly lacking, but you won't find it lacking.

The electric bass is also sufficiently black and expansive.

Low frequencies are generally excellent in both quantity and quality, and will fully satisfy bass lovers, but they tend to be too strong for the mids.

7Hz Legato

Mids

The midrange of the 7Hz Legato is tuned for three-dimensionality, with an emphasis on depth and staging.

The left and right sides are wide, with a sense of depth and generous space, which makes for good listening comfort, but the reproduction of the three-dimensionality of music is poor because the sense of edge and crunch is too lacking, giving the impression of poor separation in the mid-range. Sound contours are too round, and the axes of violins and woodwinds are too squishy and soft, giving the impression that it is difficult to feel a sense of touch. The sound is rich and immersive, and some may find this kind of sound immersive and pleasant, but I do not like this kind of overly soft midrange.

The midrange can be improved by simply lowering the lower midrange to mid-low range with the equalizer.

However, there is a point in the upper midrange where there is probably a large amount of crossover distortion, which also affects the frequency response. The strong impression of muddiness in the midrange is likely to be affected by this as well.

Either way, the midrange is not really suitable for audiophiles. Resolution is also low.

7Hz Legato

Highs / Treble

The 7Hz Legato is adjusted with relatively high sound image consistency, with excellent localization and at the same time high definition and no lack of detail. Luminance, however, is a bit low and lacks subtlety. Extension is a little less than standard, but not insufficient.

The violins are not quite upright, but they are relatively straight, and the woodwinds are well extended, so the vertical axis is reasonably well defined even when listening to a full orchestra, although there is a little wobble in the upper part of the sound.

The cymbal crash lacks brightness in the upper part of the sound, so it can easily sound dark and lacks a bit of subtlety, which may give a somewhat muddy impression. The cymbal system is basically not tight enough, and it is easy to hear it poorly.

7Hz Legato

Sound quality general comment
  • Original Sound Fidelity: B+
  • Recommendation: B
  • Personal preference: B

On a macroscopic level, the 7Hz Legato are not bad IEMs in its price range. It has gone from the typical style of neutral tuning to increasing low frequencies and, following a recent direction, extending the highs appropriately, with reasonable extension in both the ultra-low and ultra-high directions.

However, the downside of such tuning is mainly concentrated in the midrange, which is the center of the spectrum. The midrange is cramped, muddy, and lackluster as a whole. At the very least, audiophiles with a fidelity to the original sound will not appreciate it, as it deviates from the recent basic principle of earphone design, which is to tune the midrange, the heart of the music, as carefully as possible.

If you like strong low-frequency sounds, it may not be bad.

7Hz Legato

Sound quality features

Pros
  • Heavy and deep low frequency range
  • Good detail
  • Good localization
  • Sound with a sense of depth
  • Sufficiently extended highs
  • Rich and immersive sound

Cons
  • Unnatural texture
  • Cramped midrange
  • Muddy, hard-to-hear midrange

General comment

The 7Hz Legato IEMs have a V-shaped sound that combines massive, deep lows with sufficiently extended highs. The depth, rich resonance, and immersive sound may be quite attractive for relaxed listening applications. However, the mid-range is not well-developed and tends to sound muddy, making them not suitable for audiophiles.

Sound quality description

In this review, I use the standard eartips size L and drive it with the FiiO M15.

The Westone MACH 70 has a neutral-conscious, full midrange signature.

Please see here for detailed reviews on sound quality.

Westone MACH 70

Lows / Bass

The low frequencies of the Westone MACH 70 are somewhat expansive, but linear enough and extend fairly deep.

Bass drums have weight and depth, but lack tightness and tend to sound bright. Rhythms are easy to understand and have a good sense of perspective, but the rawness seems to be lacking.

The electric bass is also not bad in terms of blackness, but again the sink is sweet and lacks depth.

In terms of quantity, it has the potential to satisfy bass lovers, but in terms of quality, it just doesn't seem to be good enough.

Westone MACH 70

Mids

The midrange of the Westone MACH 70 is relatively frontal and sounds bright. It is gently backward leaning, which emphasizes a sense of depth.

The midrange has a slightly cramped and distant sounding feel to it, and the texture is not very accurate. The overall feel is dry and bulky, and vocals tend to sound thin.

Consonants are heard quite clearly and articulation is not bad, but there is a slight sting. Sibilance and stabs are not as strong, but they lack smoothness and tend to sound artificial and loudspeaker-enhanced.

The brass and piano are also easily heard with a ginormous sound and are a bit strong on the ear.

Westone MACH 70

Highs / Treble

The high frequency range has been adjusted with an eye toward definition, and while detail is not bad, it lacks extension and tends to have a strong ceiling feel.

Linearity is a bit lacking, but it has been improved over the MACH 80, so the sense of localization is much easier to understand. The hi-hats have a strong glare, but the spread is poor and unexciting, and the violins and woodwinds are not as spacious as they should be.

Westone MACH 70

Sound quality general comment
  • Original Sound Fidelity: B+
  • Recommendation: D-
  • Personal preference: D-

The Westone MACH 70 has improved linearity and range from the higher-end MACH 80, and at least sounds much better than the MACH 80. Still, given the cramped soundstage and unnatural, hard-to-hear midrange, it is unlikely that many people would be willing to pay more than $1,000 for these earphones, even if they would save some money over the MACH 80. Well, it is much better than buying MACH 80, even if only to save some money.

Westone MACH 70

Westone MACH 70

Sound quality features

Pros
  • Sound field with a sense of depth
  • Bright midrange
  • Good localization
  • Massive

Cons
  • Lacks high-frequency extension
  • Inaccurate texture
  • Uncomfortable vocals, as if emphasized by a loudspeaker
  • Exorbitant price for sound quality

General comment

The Westone MACH 70 offers more depth and heft than the higher-end MACH 80, improved localization, better linearity, and generally better sound quality than the MACH 80. However, it has little to offer in terms of price, and there is not much to recommend it except that it is better than the MACH 80.

Sound quality description

In this review, I use the standard eartips size L and drive it with the FiiO M15.

The FZ Liberty Z2 has a neutral-conscious V-shaped sound signature.

Please see here for detailed reviews on sound quality.

FZ Liberty Z2

Lows / Bass

The bass of the FZ Liberty Z2 is somewhat expansive in the lower midrange.

The bass drum sound is quite thick and massive, but it is shallow-bottomed and lacks rumble and is lacking in realism.

The electric bass has a darker sound, but lacks tightness. It has a warm, dusty warmth and a live feel, but it lacks in depth.

The Liberty Z2's volume is enough to satisfy bass lovers, but it falls a bit short in depth.

In terms of balance, the presence tends to be larger than the midrange, and the midrange tends to be a bit muddy.

FZ Liberty Z2

Mids

The midrange of the FZ Liberty Z2 is slightly concave in the center, emphasizing staging.

The midrange is fairly linearly tuned, giving it a V-shape, but the angle is relatively gentle and not too unnatural in its overall impression.

Female vocals are heard to lean forward slightly, and the guitar edge also has the sense of popping out a bit from the back, which gives the impression of emphasized three-dimensionality.

The midrange has more depth and also seems a bit wider on the left and right sides. Because of this, the texture is a bit imprecise and lacks freshness, and there is a sense of stagnation of resonance in the center of the midrange, giving a slightly out-of-focus and cloudy feeling, and coloration tends to be a bit poor as well. However, the transparency is quite high and the resolution is very good, so even with this cloudiness, a high degree of clarity can still be obtained.

In terms of sound balance, this is clearly not for audiophiles who are faithful to the original sound, but thanks to its very good resolution, it is rather rewarding to listen to.

FZ Liberty Z2

Highs / Treble

High frequencies are a little less energetic, and luminance is a little lacking. As a result, definition is a bit weak, subtlety is a bit lacking, and detail tends to be a bit fuzzy. Extensibility is a bit lacking.

Sibilances, for example, are a bit weak and sting is suppressed, making this a safe choice for those who are sensitive to high frequencies.

High frequency resolution is so high that cymbal crashes are not exhilarating and hi-hats are not well colored and grainy, yet their presence is clearly felt. The weak presence of the highs on the sound balance is compensated for by making the highs heard clearly with the highest resolution.

However, although the highs are heard well with high resolution, the sound balance is a bit poor, so the vertical axis of each instrument seems to be undefined, making the sense of localization difficult to discern.

FZ Liberty Z2

Sound quality general comment
  • Original Sound Fidelity: A-
  • Recommendation: A-
  • Personal preference: A+

The FZ Liberty Z2 has an incredibly low distortion and high resolution sound for its price. The sound balance is not very good, especially in the midrange, and it is not audiophile-friendly, but its rare high resolution makes its sound uniquely compelling.

The sense of localization is not good, the midrange is veiled, the low frequencies lack depth, and the overall sound is cloudy and hazy, but the sound is lively, richly resonant, and immersive.

The unique musical space where one can immerse oneself in the music as if enjoying a daydream, though clearly habitual, has reached a unique state of being and strongly fascinates me. I would recommend this gem for those who want to immerse themselves in music and listen to it without thinking about anything. It is a comfortable music space with beautiful bokeh like enjoying music with old lenses.

I recently listened to the KZ Ling Long, which is near the best ever in KZ history, neutral, with excellent frequency response but low resolution. Frequency response and resolution. It is probably a difficult question for audio manufacturers to decide which is more important in the end, but personally, I found the FZ Liberty Z2 to be considerably more rewarding to listen to than the Ling Long.

blog.ear-phone-review.com

FZ Liberty Z2

Sound quality features

Pros
  • Outstanding resolution
  • Bright midrange
  • Good clarity
  • Rich resonance and sense of envelopment
  • Sound field with a sense of depth
  • Warm sound
  • Mild to the ear and not tiring to listen to

Cons
  • Lacks depth in low frequencies
  • Inferior high-frequency extension
  • Unnatural texture
  • Poor localization

General comment

The FZ Liberty Z2 IEMs create an enveloping acoustic space that is as high-resolution, clear, and low-distortion as ultra high-end, yet so richly resonant that the music is veiled and vaguely dimly audible. Because of their clearly idiosyncratic sound, these earphones are not suitable for audiophiles who are faithful to the original sound. However, the unique worldview that allows you to enjoy music like a daydream while awake cannot be experienced with other earphones.

TRN Rosefinch marks the entry of an all-new pair of high-fidelity in-ear monitors equipped with a 12mm large full-frequency planar magnetic driver unit. The pair boasts an exciting design with a semi-open grill on high-quality aluminum alloy face covers attached to imported resin ear shells. The pair has been tuned professionally to produce an immersive sound with a wide 3D soundstage. TRN has adjusted the tuning of the latest Rosefinch to complement different genres with a rich tone, unparalleled clarity, and an expansive 3D soundstage!!

TRN Rosefinch

Full-Frequency Planar Magnetic Driver

TRN has featured a 12mm large full-frequency ultra-thin diaphragm planar magnetic driver unit on the Rosefiinch. A planar driver functions differently than a dynamic driver unit. Instead of a cone-shaped diaphragm, it adopts a flat diaphragm that is capable of producing crispier sound with faster transients and an expansive soundstage. The bass impact is also tighter and better controlled with planar magnetic drivers. The driver here on the Rosefinch adopts an ultra-thin 2um diaphragm.

TRN Rosefinch

Symmetrical Dual-Sides Magnetic Architecture:-

TRN Rosefinch adopts a dual-sided Neodymium N52-based high-power magnetic array structure on the 12mm planar magnetic driver. It produces a high-power magnetic flux that allows for swift movement of the diaphragm coil resulting in a cleaner, richer, denser sound with low distortion in the output signal. The pair is able to achieve a natural tone with outstanding dynamics and great extensions.

TRN Rosefinch

3D Expansive Sound With Professional Tuning Adjustments

TRN has professionally adjusted the tuning of the Rosefinch with a dedicated team of audio engineers. The tuning here has been adjusted to deliver a rich sound with an impactful lower end, lovely vocal clarity, and crisp separation for both instruments and vocals. The pair delivers an impressive sound with a wide soundstage presentation. It basically complements different genres of music with its clarity, resolution, and details.

TRN Rosefinch

Beautiful Build With Semi-Open Cavity Design

TRN Rosefinch features a semi-open back cavity design with high-quality aluminum alloy face covers. These are crafted using a high-precision 5-axis CNC machining process. The face cover is attached to high-quality skin-friendly imported resin material ear shells. Resin material gives the shells a lightweight build structure.

TRN Rosefinch

High-Quality Stock Cable

TRN bundles the latest Rosefinch with a high-quality stock cable. It adopts a 4-core silver-plated copper and oxygen-free copper hybrid cable with a modular termination plug system. This cable brings the benefits of both SPC copper and OFC copper materials giving fullness to the sound. A swappable termination plug allows you to easily swap the plugs and use your own choice of termination. Please note that the package includes only a 3.5mm single-ended plug. You can buy the other terminations separately(2.5mm/4.4mm).

Build quality

Build quality meets the price standard.

It is beautiful and sturdy in construction. I am concerned about the design utilizing a slit shape that I have seen somewhere before, but let's not go into it. They may claim that the design was inspired by the feathers of a vermilion bird, but audiophiles would consider it too much influenced by a more immediate object than an imaginary creature, namely a rival brand of earphones.

Rival KZ has recently been molding beautiful housings with its own design, but TRN may be paying too much respect to other brands.

Sound quality description

In this review, I use the standard eartips size L and drive it with the FiiO M15.

TRN Rosefinch has a V-shaped sound signature.

Please see here  for detailed reviews on sound quality.

TRN Rosefinch

Lows / Bass

The bass on the TRN Rosefinch is a bit expansive but reaches reasonably deep.

The bass drum does not sound bad in terms of tightness, but it seems to lack a bit of weight, sounding closer to tapping rather than thumping.

The electric bass also tends to be bright and may be slightly lacking in terms of blackness.

The lower midrange is a bit cluttered, as the bass, while light-ish, is more present in volume than the midrange. Either way, bass lovers will not find the sound very appealing.

TRN Rosefinch

Mids

The midrange of the TRN Rosefinch is tuned for three-dimensionality, with a concave center.

Staging is considerably emphasized and depth can be felt, but the midrange tends to be cramped and horizontal, making it somewhat difficult to hear. The angle of the midrange as a whole is slightly more forward leaning, so guitar edges and vocals feel as if they are extended from the back.

The high-frequency direction is adjusted to be fairly neutral, and the linearity is not bad, so the sense of localization is rather accurate despite the forward tilt. However, the overall structure of the midrange is a typical V-shape, and the adjustment is consumer-like, so it is not suitable for audiophiles who tend to be particular about the accuracy of the sound image in the midrange in general.

The resolution is very high and the transparency is excellent, making it an excellent midrange in terms of audio specifications.

TRN Rosefinch

Highs / Treble

The TRN Rosefinch takes advantage of its planar drive design to provide very extended high frequencies.

The highs are quite excellent, with high linearity, a fairly stable sense of localization, and not much lack of detail. Subtlety may be a bit lacking, but there is plenty of exhilaration.

However, from the center of the midrange, the highs tend to be quite assertive, so they tend to have a strong tendency to have a shaky or crunchy atmosphere depending on the song. This tends to produce a sense of glare, and there is a tendency for the sound to sound metallic and dry.

TRN Rosefinch

Sound quality general comment
  • Original Sound Fidelity: A
  • Recommendation: A-
  • Personal preference: A-

TRN Rosefinch IEMs are reminiscent of the new era of planar-driven drivers. It demonstrates the excellent range characteristic of planar-driven drivers, while offering high transparency and very good resolution, and it is clear that TRN has been trying to take the lead in this area.

Rival KZ is still struggling to improve transparency even with the KZ PR1 Pro, and TRN may have a clue as to how to overtake KZ by achieving terrific resolution and high transparency comparable to dynamic drivers with the Rosefinch.

blog.ear-phone-review.com

However, KZ still has the edge in midrange sound production and overall sound balance, and it is unclear whether TRN Rosefinch will be able to overpower the PR1 Pro and KZ's new planar drive earphones that are expected to appear in the future. In terms of price advantage, TRN Rosefinch is considerably better than the PR1 Pro, but it may not be as highly regarded, as Rosefinch's surprisingly peaky and differentiated sound is not likely to be everyone's cup of tea.

Rosefinch is therefore a product that is still at the middle-of-the-road level, but the tremendous performance demonstrated by this product suggests that TRN's planar-drive models in the future could, in some cases, be the eye of the storm for the entire earphone industry.

TRN Rosefinch vs KZ PR1 Pro

TRN Rosefinch

Sound quality features

Pros
  • Lustrous sound
  • Good original sound fidelity
  • Excellent resolution on par with ultra-high end
  • Transparent and clear midrange
  • Excellent high-frequency extension
  • Excellent sound image consistency
  • Good localization
  • Good detail

Cons
  • Unnatural texture
  • Cramped midrange
  • Lacks low-frequency depth
  • Prone to sounding harsh and dry

General comment

TRN Rosefinch represents a completely new step forward for TRN in the field of planar-drive earphones. With its well-defined high frequencies, carefully tuned and consistent sound design, high transparency, and above all, ultra-high-end resolution, TRN has revolutionized the planar-driver earphone segment. However, its sound balance, which is not well-developed in the midrange, is unfortunately not suitable for audiophiles.

Sound quality description

In this review, I use the standard eartips size L and drive it with the FiiO M15.

The EPZ K1 has a neutral-conscious W-shaped sound signature.

Please see here for detailed reviews on sound quality.

EPZ K1

Lows / Bass

The EPZ K1's low frequency range is fairly linear and deep, but it does not reach the really deep heavy bass.

The bass drum sound is moderately heavy and has a reasonable sense of power, but the rumble is a bit weak and shallow. The sense of realism is a bit lacking.

The electric bass is not so bad in terms of tightness, but lacks a bit in spaciousness. Blackness may also be a bit lacking.

The bass is relatively flat and well balanced with the midrange, and those who are used to the low frequency range of monitor speakers will like it a lot. However, it is a bit lacking for those who like low frequencies.

EPZ K1

Mids

The midrange of the EPZ K1 is tuned fairly close to neutral; the K1 is a fairly inexpensive 1BA+1DD hybrid, but it is both clear and surprisingly high-resolution for its price.

The midrange is a bit more depth-enhanced, and the soundstage allows more room around vocals. The left and right sides will feel a bit wider. The midrange is less dense and the area around vocals is clean and comfortable to listen to, but localization is a bit unstable, as violins and woodwinds tend not to stand upright and guitar edges tend to sound pulled back.

Even the sense of construction is lacking, and the midrange is softly contoured and pleasant to the ear for listening. The listening experience is comfortable and immersive, and there is plenty of detail, but the sense of separation is a bit weak. Peaks are also a bit prominent in the highs, which tend to be a bit sharp, and tend to sound crisp and dry.

EPZ K1

Highs / Treble

The EPZ K1 should have a balanced armature driver handling the high frequencies, but extension is standard or slightly better, with good extension. It is tuned for definition and excels in detail and subtlety.

High frequencies are not lacking in detail, with ample luminance. Dynamism tends to be quite pronounced, and woodwinds and strings sound wavering, so the sense of localization is not stable, but it is lively and quite interesting.

The airiness is adequate, the highs are exhilarating, and the cymbal crash has good spread. The highs are unreliable as monitors due to localization issues, but are an excellent adjustment for listening applications.

EPZ K1

Sound quality general comment
  • Original Sound Fidelity: A+
  • Recommendation: S+
  • Personal preference: S+

The EPZ K1 are IEMs with resolution and high transparency on par with ultra-high end. The midrange is also highly accurate, and the overall balance is tuned close to that of monitor speakers. However, the emphasis on staging and dynamism makes it difficult to get a sense of localization, making the sound more suitable for listening than for monitoring.

EPZ K1

Sound quality features

Pros
  • Good texture
  • Good original sound fidelity
  • Near-flat bass like monitor speakers
  • Good dynamism
  • Ultra-high end-like resolution
  • Speaker-like forward localization
  • Excellent detail
  • Highs with ample extension and exhilaration
  • High transparency

Cons
  • Difficult to understand localization
  • Not enough bass for bass lovers
  • Lack of sense of structure

General comment

The EPZ K1 IEMs are extremely affordable, yet are capable of delivering sound with excellent detail and a resolution unmatched in this price range. Its sound is extended, majestic, and exhilarating, providing an enjoyable listening experience with enhanced dynamism and a bright outlook.

Features of 64Audio Nio

64Audio Nio

A different kind of presence from monitor earphones. Hybrid-type earphones that allow you to enjoy music from a new perspective

Nio is a hybrid earphone with 9 drivers, consisting of a 9mm-diameter dynamic driver and eight balanced armature (BA) drivers.

youtu.be

In Nio, the dynamic driver expresses expressive bass, and the combination of eight other BA-type drivers produces a stereographic soundstage that is almost three-dimensional. The Nio's unique soundstage, which combines undistorted highs and majestic bass, will provide hours of enjoyment from all genres of music.

64Audio Nio

The modern mother-of-pearl design of the faceplate shines beautifully like a jewel.

Nio's robust aluminum housing is ergonomically designed to fit most people's ears as a universal model. The faceplate has a raden design that shines beautifully like a jewel, making it as captivating in appearance as it is in sound.

64Audio Nio

A revolutionary new technology, "tia technology," that overturns conventional earphone design and dramatically improves sound quality

tia (Tubeless In-ear Audio) technology is a new technology that revolutionizes earphone design itself by using a sound conduit in the conventional balanced armature (BA) type driver, which produces sound through the sound conduit and out the sound hole.

By eliminating the use of a sound conduit in the BA-type driver and instead employing a unique tubeless design, tia technology allows the true sound from the driver to be delivered directly to your ear. The absence of a sound conduit eliminates the sound resonance problem inside the conduit and the sound attenuation problem caused by the use of a filter (damper), both of which degrade sound quality.

64Audio Nio

New "apex" technology reduces air pressure on the eardrum, which not only reduces fatigue from prolonged listening, but also helps protect hearing.

When the ear canal is blocked by earphones, the earphone speakers produce air pressure (sound pressure). This air pressure can cause ear fatigue and, by placing excessive pressure on the eardrum, can lead to hearing loss. apex technology (Air Pressure Exchange Technology) was developed to reduce the risk of hearing loss. By incorporating a specially designed "apex module" into the earphone housing, air pressure that would normally be applied to the eardrums is released through the apex module, thereby reducing the burden on the eardrums. This reduces auditory fatigue caused by prolonged listening, making it easier to maintain hearing for longer periods of time. The reduced stress on the eardrums relieves tension and improves auditory sound quality.

Single-bore design to take advantage of the tia driver

The single bore design is a new earphone design that uses a single large-diameter sound conduit as the sound exit. The single bore design enables a "tubeless design" that eliminates sound resonance caused by the sound conduit, allowing the "tia driver" to reach its full potential. The large-diameter sound conduit itself serves as an acoustic chamber and is the key to sound tuning, enabling more accurate tuning.

Linear Impedance Design" developed for various listening environments

LID (Linear Impedance Design) was developed to ensure that the sound balance of the IEMs (in-ear monitors) is not affected when connected to various player devices with different output impedance, such as high-resolution digital audio players (DAPs), smartphones, and portable amplifiers. The Impedance Design is a new design designed to ensure that the sound balance of the IEMs (in-ear monitors) is not affected when connected to various player devices with different output impedances, such as high-resolution digital audio players (DAPs), smartphones, and portable amplifiers.

64Audio Nio (m15)のオーディオステータス

Sound quality description

In this review, I use the standard eartips size L and drive it with the FiiO M15 and using apex m15.

64Audio Nio has a sound signature of a full midrange.

Please see here for detailed reviews on sound quality.

64Audio Nio

Lows / Bass

64Audio claims to have brought out the expressive low frequencies of the dynamic drivers in the Nio, and if you check out the sound of the Nio, they are absolutely right: when using the m15 and m20 Apex modules, the Nio delivers very massive and deep low frequencies.

Bass drums are weighty, deep enough and rumble well, and feel raw and realistic.

The electric bass is also sufficiently black and deep with good breadth and sink.

It will fully satisfy bass lovers both quantitatively and qualitatively.

64Audio Nio

Mids

The midrange of the 64Audio Nio is neutral but tilted backward, with lots of resonance and an emphasis on depth.

64Audio claims to have tuned the Nio to emphasize a three-dimensional soundstage rather than a monitor-like sound, and this is immediately apparent when one checks the actual frequency response.

The midrange, which connects very smoothly to the highs, is actually not very texturally accurate, and even though it is resonant and muddy, the high soundstage consistency and excellent resolution make it seem hardly unnatural.

Audiophiles familiar with neutral sound will notice that the vocals are a bit dark and the midrange perspective is actually a bit poor, but for most people this will not be too disconcerting.

In fact, the midrange is cramped and not really suited for audiophiles, at least not for the original sound fidelityist. It is too muddy for high-end, and its shortcomings are obvious when listening to rock and other music, as the sound clouds over quickly, but it is linear enough that it is difficult to detect any distortion in the sound image.

It is not a bad choice for those who want to feel a warm spatial expression with a slightly resonant envelopment. Many people think it sounds rich sounding, with a sense of spaciousness and depth that is reminiscent of high-end audio.

64Audio Nio

Highs / Treble

High frequencies are smoothly tuned and have a natural decay, but overall energy is weak and extension is lacking for a high-end product.

If you listen to a full orchestra, the shortcomings are immediately apparent, as a rather ceiling-like feeling is immediately felt in the violins and woodwinds.

Despite being high-end with a large number of drivers, the high frequency range is as good as or worse than that of earphones in the $100 range, except for resolution, which is not so good.

The muddiness is strong, probably due to the relatively high distortion ratio, which may sound rich to some, but audiophiles will find the sound muddy and low-quality.

64Audio Nio

Sound quality general comment
  • Original Sound Fidelity: A-
  • Recommendation: B-
  • Personal preference: B-

The 64Audio Nio has a dense sound with rich, resonant staging emphasis. Some might thereby consider it an upscale sound. However, when you look at the audio specs and sound balance, it does not meet the price level, and audiophiles would be foolish to pay $2,000 for this. If 64Audio is as good as they are, they could have made a much better product with dynamic drivers, but they used too many drivers unnecessarily to make it sound muddy.

I think 64Audio is one of the more decent high-end earphone brands, but that doesn't mean that they offer superior sound quality. It seems like they use more drivers than they should, not for sound quality, but to keep the price high.

After listening to excellent earphones like the Kiwi Ears Orchestra Lite, which carefully utilize the distortion characteristics of multiple drivers to create a unique and distinctive sound, the 64Audio's lack of craftsmanship is even more noticeable. But when I hear Nio's sound, which is just a general cloudiness of the overall sound, I simply think they have no sense of taste.

blog.ear-phone-review.com

Still, it is generally much more decent to buy 64Audio than to buy Campfire Audio, or JH Audio, or Unique Melody, or Westone. At least as far as I can rate them with the earphones I've checked so far.

If you like the sound of something like Nio, I'd suggest you listen to TRN VX Pro, AFUL Performer 5, and Open Audio Mercury 2.0, which have a similar soundstage, before making a decision. The total price of all these products is less than the price of Nio. Most of the time you will feel like "I can't really pay $2000 for Nio.

64Audio Nio

Sound quality features

Pros
  • Sound field with a sense of depth
  • Rich and immersive soundstage
  • Excellent sound image consistency
  • Excellent low-frequency range with depth and richness
  • Stable damping characteristics despite multiple drivers
  • Rich sound with a high sense of fullness

Cons
  • Lacks high-frequency extension
  • Inaccurate texture
  • Highly muddy and lacks transparency
  • Exorbitant price for sound quality

General comment

The 64Audio Nio are IEMs that give a rich, resonant, rich sound with a sense of depth. Many people will feel a sense of luxury from the deep, heavy bass, slightly dark and enveloping midrange, and smoothly extending, naturally connected highs. It can be said that the sound is elegant, rich, and profound, yet graceful.

However, the sound quality is basically muddy and not commensurate with the price, so unless you have a lot of extra money, it is not necessary to get these earphones. It is not a product that is going to be an end game in the least, and is more of a sound for people who want to play gold-diggers. To a serious audiophile, it would be like, "Why did they have to use so many drivers to achieve this level of sound? If they used six drivers for the midrange, shouldn't they have tried to make the listener listen more carefully?" That's all I can say.

Sound quality description

In this review, I use the standard eartips size L and drive it with the FiiO M15.

The KZ ZS10 ProX has a neutral-conscious V-shaped sound signature.

Please see here for detailed reviews on sound quality.

KZ ZS10 ProX

Lows / Bass

The low frequencies of the KZ ZS10 ProX are fairly linear and reach relatively deep.

The bass drum sound is massive and powerful enough to sound thick and muscular, and the sense of presence is not bad, as the rumble is also reasonably perceptible. The impact is felt well enough.

The electric bass is black and tight, with good tightness and relatively good depth, but slightly shallow.

The bass can satisfy bass lovers quite well in terms of both depth and volume, and it is balanced and balanced with the midrange among KZ products.

KZ ZS10 ProX

Mids

The midrange of the KZ ZS10 ProX is neutral enough, but the midrange is concave, emphasizing the three-dimensionality. The overall structure is slightly forward leaning.

The midrange is lush enough, with plenty of structure, but the upper part sounds a bit dry. There is a slight emphasis on dynamism, and the sense of detail is sufficient and not lacking in precision.

The snare is solid enough, with a firm and hard profile, and the attack is heard quite clearly. The midrange has a monitor-like feel, but the crunchiness of the sound may be a bit strong. The sound contour is a little milder and mellower than the solid sound image center, and is a little gentler on the ear.

Despite being a hybrid model, the midrange sounds clear with fairly low distortion and good resolution. Because of the emphasis on staging, the midrange is panoramic and feels roomy on both sides.

KZ ZS10 ProX

Highs / Treble

The high frequencies of the KZ ZS10 ProX are tuned for speaker-like forward localization. Extension is lacking.

Sibilance can be heard slightly stronger, but the sting is well controlled. The sense of definition is adequate, and luminance may be just slightly lacking, but generally adequate. The highs are sufficiently monitor-like and detailed for analytical listening.

The highs are fairly smooth and finished, and are gentle to the ear.

KZ ZS10 ProX

Sound quality general comment
  • Original Sound Fidelity: A+
  • Recommendation: S
  • Personal preference: S

The KZ ZS10 ProX earphones have a fairly balanced, slightly V-shaped sound. If you find the sound of the CCA CXS to be too hard on the ear or a bit harsh, the ZS10 ProX will be more comfortable and pleasant to listen to. It also has a wider midrange and a little more room. On the other hand, the CXS is generally more reliable as a monitor, as ZS10 ProX has less constructive sound than the CCA CXS.

KZ ZS10 ProXKZ ZS10 ProX vs CCA CXS

KZ ZS10 ProX

  • Excellent texture
  • Good original sound fidelity
  • Heavy, deep bass
  • Glossy, colorful and sweet sound
  • Resolution beyond its price
  • Smooth, well-damped highs
  • Good focus on midrange
  • Good sound balance
  • Speaker-like forward localization
  • Low distortion and clarity
  • Well-organized damping

Cons
  • Lacks high-frequency extension
  • Slightly darker midrange
  • Slightly lower localization and sense of build than CXS

General comment

The KZ ZS10 ProX is a multi-hybrid driver model with relatively good damping characteristics, high transparency, good resolution, and above all, a monitor-like sound with high fidelity to the original sound, which is a clear indication that KZ has shown great talent in this area. The KZ ZS10 sounds more like a legitimate monitor among KZ products and can provide a smoother, slightly rounder, more comfortable listening experience than the CCA CXS, which is more like a orthodox studio monitor.
